Am heading to Caloundra for 4 days for my young fullas volleyball champs at the start of june. I have booked in at the big 4 caravan park and plan on taking my board (providing my car is fixed in time, otherwise it is the wife's car and no board!
)
Only a beginner in the surf but looking at the google map it looks ok to paddle around the corner to Kings beach. How acceptable is it to sup here?
Also if I cant take my board is there somewhere I can rent one for a few days rather than pay the hourly rate?
Thanks in advance for any help guys.
I was there last year and surfed just south of Kings. Parked at the carpark at The Esplanade. Surf was great with several peaks to choose from. A few SUP guys out. No hassles. Can't comment on Kings though.

Hey mate.
The break to the south of kings, right at the passage mouth like zeusman said is called happy valley or happies. Very sup friendly and probably one of the better sup waves on the coast. Surfs better on the bottom half of the tide too.
I'm unsure about hiring a sup but you could try to call "beach beat" surf shop just up the road from the big 4 as probably your best bet.
I surf there regularly and drop me a line when you get closer and if I have a day off I'll come for a paddle with you.
Ps the seafood market across the road from the big 4 makes a cracker fish and chips too.
Cheers Geoff
Thanks guys. Sounds like I have managed to luck out on where my accommodation is and have just found an add for sunshine coast sup centre that rents boards for 24 & 48 hour periods which should suit perfectly. yt04 will definitely try and get in touch but still unsure of the time commitment with my son. without a doubt supporting him takes priority. Will definitely be making some time to get wet just needs to be planned sneakily!
Thanks again guys.

Gday Geoff,
Up here on holidays from Wollongong, got a nice uncrowded wave at Caloundra this morning, also sampled the fish & chipo ........ sensational.
Best regards,
Ken M.

Ken,
Great work. It's my local break closest to home and we haunt there and the fish shop a fair bit. Gets a great wave when the conditions are right too.
Cheers Geoff
