Hi Traff I assume
"submarine" refers to boards of low flotation compared to rider .
How can you tell that is not the case in this video ?

Well, my eyes tell me that he is on a narrow and thin, thus low volume board....
Try to look for other videos of him on youtube, some years ago he was on a floating board, and the turns are visibly different.
Even in 2014 his boards were quite small:

Maybe compared to the average punter its low volume but for a pro it looks reasonably high. Im only guessing but the board looks around 27in wide and Just under 8ft. I would say he wouldn't be up to his knees when hes standing still. I may be wrong but that's my observation.
It looks bigger than my board, but he looks bigger than me so im thinking similar ratio.
All I know is that this guy is ripping! Got it all, flow, style, occasionally vert, and great wave reads. And yet another goofy Brazilian.
Wow! A clinic on how to pump a board. Loved the floaters. Very fast stylish surfing. Makes the most out of small waves. Thanks for posting.
Bob
Exactly, so mobile on tiny waves, no way could I get anywhere near those full wrapping turns on that micro wave real estate. Its like watching a school on pumping, fading, timing, back foot positioning. Where has this dude been? Great catch Skee.
I like how they have edited this clip. Many clips edit out the paddle onto a wave. I think it is one skill I see many people struggle with. Good to see his technique.
What board is he on?
He rides CALIBRE Boards, the dudes been around forever.
Yeah, that clip was from 2013. There is a clip loaded on the Tube that is dated March 2019. Like a lot of us he is looking more, ermmm, mature and distinguished, but still ripping hard, in fact harder. Tiny board too.
