Hi Guys
This Saturday we are having our monthly 5km time trial from Point walter spit to the left bank traffic bridge. Adam has kindly offered to come down in his surf ski to start and finish the group.
Meet at the Zephrs cafe north carpark at 0630 and paddle up to the start at Point Walter together. First group away at 0715.
All welcome, if you are new to paddling there is a 3.5km course as well. All newcomers start in the first wave, previous starters are handicapped at 10 second intervals from the last time trial results.
I may not be there due to baby commitments, so Cam or Kev will run the morning.
Cheers
Greg
Sorry Greg, I can't make Saturday mornings at the moment as my kids have sport at 2 different venues which starts early. It was last weekend that I could have made as there was no sport on over long weekend. Sorry about that.
I believe Kev is out injured and also down south for the weekend, but I will be there so come one, come all. With 21 starters last month it would be good to have a good showing again. This time we only have a slight incoming tide and very light winds predicted so will be a good run.
Anyone who needs info feel free to pm me or post here.
Sorry guys I have same sport commitments girls hockey at 8 am start will be paddling it later in the day if anyone keen just see if my time is competive have fun
I'm off the water for a month. I'll come down and do the start and finish from the shore if you want.
Make the most of your last full night of sleep for a while Greg.
I'm a no-show this week, physios' orders ( or so he thinks !) happy paddles to all the crew. Might keep Luke company on the side lines. Have a great day today to the Kerr family !!
What an amazing morning. Paddling up to Pt Walter there were the most vibrant colours in the sky. It was warm and only a slightbreeze, the tide wasn't running as hard as last time, so no standing waves to battle with, but just enough to knowyour paddling into it.
Not sure of exact times, think Luke or Greg will post them. Well done to Juddy who came down on his 10'5 and still did the full 5km.
Reults from today:
Peter P - 33:40 - 14 Starboard Coast Runner
Cam McKay - 38:35 - 12'6 Suplove Stingray
Brett Hall - 42:35 - 14 DC
Kirk Di Souza - 43:00 - 14 Lahui Kai Orca
Juddy - 50:35 - 10'5 Starboard
These times are amended to take into consideration the staggered start.
Slight incoming tide of 3-4 knots with an approx. 5 Knot ESE.
Pete was flying for someone who has pretty much had the last month off and a big effort by Juddy to finish on his 10'5. I was speaking to him on the way up and he said he goal was the classic paddle, which is in October on the exact course, so it is only going to get better for him.
Looked like beautiful conditions today, would've loved to have been out with everyone - good time Pete!
We had a beautiful baby boy - everyone is well and we are absolutely blessed.
Cheers
Congrats Greg, good to hear that all went well, becoming a parent is one of the best things to happen in life, although at times between sleepless nights and dirty nappies you may find that hard to believe. ![]()
Good to here Greg all the best times not a quick as last time is that right cam galvos 28 min still looking the bench mark and wait to see what he has just orded give you the tip we are going to need a motor it starts with D and ends with C Flat and fast
Funny we were discussing the classic paddle and the times from last year. Hard to think that any of us have actually become slower. Just had a look and believe it or not but the tide was actually running out for the race last year, so yes Brett apparently the tide does go the other way! Plus if you remember we had probably a 15-20knt se'erly pushing us down.
