Stoked I caught up with Legendary Bill Boyum last night at Peggy Kings place. Bill Boyum is a hardcore travelling surfer from long ago Bill Boyum discovered the magic Lefts of Grajagan, Java Indonesian way before Gerry Lopez got the credit for discovering Gajagan from the surf movie.
Thanks for signing your book for me, Journals from the Edge.Bill Boyum is a fan of us Novacastrians e.g. So many Hard Core travellers Surfers come out of Newcastle, I've travelled a bit in my youth and I'd be in the middle of f@#en no were and would always run into somebody from Newcastle, how ironic.
I may be living on the Gold Coast at Burleigh Heads but you can't take the Novacastrian out of me. I do love and miss home.
Read his book a couple of weeks ago,loved the surf stories but found the start of the book about his father and upbringing pretty confronting. All things considered a good read,he and his brother were real pioneers in a few illegal schemes and surf camps.Its out on Amazon Kindle if you can't find it at a book store.
