Just a quick note to thank the people at Balin for sorting out an issue (manufacturing fault) I had with one of their Storm SUP leggies.

A week prior to going to Fiji I had an issue with my Storm SUP leash.

I contacted Balin through their website and was very happy with the professional way that the situation was handled.

I received a replacement the very next day after telling them it was urgent due to going to Fiji.

No mess, no fuss, no excuses, just good old fashioned service.

Let's face it things go wrong from time to time even with quality brands however it's how the manufacturers respond and handle the situation that makes it count.

No affiliation with Balin just a happy 'repeat' customer.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes we back our products and all our customers are our best asset. The STORM leashes were developed using what we know about our 35+ years of making leashes for surfers. Leggies are tested every time they are used !

We used our regular leggie tail savers on the STORMS. They have performed well and have a great record and extremely low failure rate. Turns out that the extra forces that SUP boards put on the internal construction highlighted a problem with the Stainless swivels. The area around the holes in a small percentage had some burrs left over from the machining. The strong pulling and twisting forces caused the internal webbing (we don't use rope) to fray and give way. Only a small percentage are affected but impossible to open the units up to inspect them.

SOLUTION:
We re-designed the swivel end. It now has a smooth bar attached instead of a hole. We can now use a double strand of webbing and be confident that it will not wear. The new stock is also longer and wider to allow more grip tape to be used with an extra security overlap.

Any problems we will re-place / repair.

So how do we know if we have the old or new?
Found these leg ropes the best other than the fault mentioned I had two let go.
Service always the best at Balin.
