G'day Breezers,

Here' the latest on the next Race in the Summer Series from Race Director Dez Blanchfield:

Round 4 of your Summer Series is on at Cronulla on Sunday Feb 26th.

There's been a heap of "healthy" competitive banter bouncing around in emails & on the Summer Series official Facebook page, which is awesome to see. There's no better incentive than challenging your friends to come race with you at each event, chasing each other around the course.

Jump online & register now for Round 4 ( registration details & URL link below ) and take part in round 4 of the Summer Series. You'll enjoy a safe fun paddle event in your favourite paddle race series with some of the best people you could ever meet.

We're putting on another one of our famous free BBQ's sponsored by the blast project. There's also heaps of awesome prizes to be won, show bags for everyone, loads of freebies on the day, discount vouchers for you, tons of product samples from ASN Neutral Bay.

You will also be able to demo paddle ski's & kayaks from Carbonology Australia & Stellar Kayaks. so please, make sure you bring a few friends & your family with you as well won't you.

Event web page

For further details for this event, the official Round 4 event page is:

Event webpage -> summerseries.blastpaddlers.org/event-4/

Please note that our series Web site is now under the Blast project domain which has moved to a DOT ORG ( .org ) domain from it's original DOT COM ( .com ) domain. The DOT COM address will be redirected to the DOT ORG address so old likes etc continue to work.

This small change was due to a range of issues we were having where councils & state and federal bodies saw the DOT COM as a commercial entity, when the blast project is in fact 100% a not-for-profit. Hopefully in time, the move to blastpaddlers.org will address some of that. We've also stopped referring to Blast as Blast Paddlers.

One other small change is that we're now referring to Blast as "the blast project" - this is due to the fact that we're kicking off Swimming and Running groups in the same format as our Paddling groups. It's only a small change but you'll see us shift from Blast Paddlers to "the blast project". So it's "same same but different" as someone recently said when I told them about it - go figure ;-)

I think I'll be rehabilitated just enough to have casual go at this one.

What distance do you guys generally race?

Hey Casso,
Most of the boys paddle the 5k and there's a few that do the 2.5k on 11ft Sups. We all start at same time and there is 2 laps x 2.5 k. Therefore, if the shoulder gives you grief, it's not too far back to finish. Perfectly suited to yourself in the recovery stage. Hope to see you there.
Brad (shaggy) is the one to beat and Paul on the pink Sup is right up there. My strategy is to start at the back of the pack and stay there - not by choice. Lot's of fun.

It will be awesome to see you back Casso! Will you be riding the DEEP?

Shaggy Smith is dominating the 12'6 Division (5km) at the moment on his Fanatic.

And Paul Dreghorn is leading the 14' Division (5km). He has just been anounced as a Coreban Ambassodor ... will we see him on a new 14' Alpha instead of his pink Lahui Kai?

Series sponsor, Stu Murray from SUPLOVE is also dominating the 2.5km 14' Division on his Stingray Salt.

Yeah, I'll be on the DEEP 14'. My new DEEP 12'6" Carbon/Innegra is only being glassed this week so it will be too green to race on Sunday.

There's some fantastic events on in Cronulla on Sunday and it's a shame there's a clash but aren't we are spoiled for choice! Great place to be!

So if you're looking for a great time at a short course race, with some awesome prizes, a crazy crew and a free bbq come down for the Blast race! Don't forget the Cronulla Club and the SUP Posse are running their club rounds/demo days locally so it's an absolute SUPfest down in the Shire!

Here's where the BLAST crew will be!
