Hi all, I'm looking for some info on a holiday that myself and wife are planning to France, Portugal, Spain, Morocco and England. 6 to 7 weeks leaving early May. I was thinking of buying a sup over in France, I have seen Wasp and gong. Let us know of some recommendations to stay and surf, is it worth hiring a campervan in Portugal? Could also look into some sort of accom swap as I have a Airbnb studio located in Kingscliff Nsw 15 minutes away from the Gold Coast. I won't be chasing surf in England, just visiting family. Cheers Clarky

May is off season, you should have no problem finding cheap airbnb, or even hotels.
I see there are many renting platforms for RV in Portugal.

Note that SUPs are now quite cheap 2nd hand, you may also buy used via local shops.
And local French shops sell many brands.

Hi Colas
Good to know about picking up a second hand board as I would hate to damage a new one due to all the travelling.

France main place to find used boards is "Le bon coin".
But as with all classified sites, beware of scammers."Le bon coin" tries to actively fight frauds, but you never know (and the site is only in French).
www.leboncoin.fr/

look for "SUP" and/or "paddle", category "Loisirs / Sports & Plein air"

www.leboncoin.fr/recherche?category=29&text=sup+paddle&kst=k
Avoid all the meta things (Facebook groups), a scammer paradise.

Go to the Gong factory shop and pick up a board and bring it home , that place is amazing well worth a visit. The boards are so cheap buying direct.

Yeah Rob I like the Karmen Gong 7'8. I'll check directly with them a couple of months before heading over.
Hey napnap I'm visiting my sisters family who are living in Chelsea.

Jeez those are cheap. Looks like none in stock though- superseded? I wondered if there were any in their retailers around the country then remembered it's Gong.

A lot were sold, I guess they wait for restock. As you can see the site lists the superseded 2024 (deep blue) and current 2025 (light blue) models

Clarky, note that if you don't plan to go the Gong depot, you can have them deliver the board to a depot of the transport company ("Geodis", they have one depot on in each French department). You then have about 10 days to fetch it there.

Thanks for the tip Colas. I had a look where they are and wasn't planning on heading the far north.

Chelsea is a bit 'inland'. Hope you have a great trip.
