The 3rd annual Surftech SUP Winter Classic is on again this August - 9 and 10 on the Mornington Peninsula in Vicco.
Come and join paddlers from NSW and VIC - in a fun weekend of SUP racing - highlighted by a visit to the Peninsula Hot Springs - escorted by "The Dogman"! (this is actually the highlight of the weekend.)
There'll also be SUP Surf clinics with "The Dogman" and Terrene Black - some come and join in the fun.
Along with the 10km downwind and SUP-X races, the 6km race this year, will be a "Sawtooth SUP Surf race" - conditions permitting - from Flinders to Shoreham Beach - pictured below.
Water temperature here is still a balmy 14degC - but likely to be around 12degC for the event. So "Man Up" and get down to the Mornington Peninsula for this event!

We've had some great downwind conditions lately as well as some good swell - so we've been getting a bit of training in!
It's been fun paddling the different courses - especially the 6km "Sawtooth SUP" race on Sunday August 10 - which goes through five surf zones.
We did a run yesterday from Flinders to Shoreham - and got a run of over one minute on the last wave of the course.
Check the course and some video footage out here! http://supwinterclassic.com.au/swc-bloggs/sup-training-on-the-sawtooth/#more-1235
PS - Water temperature (Ocean) is still 14.5deg while Port Phillip is a bit cooler at 11.8deg ![]()

Definitely Merimbula again this year. It's unfortunate the Doctor is on at the same time.
The Winter Classic is a great weekend of fun and racing so I'm a bit disappointed to be missing it but didn't think it wise to miss my Wife's birthday 3 years in a row.
One week to go! - and the weather the last week has been amazing for some downwind practice both on Port Phillip Bay and Western Port.
Fingers crossed for next week! Jeff went out yesterday at Rye to see how fast he could go when the wind swung around to the NW.
He tracked himself with a Magellan Step Up GPS watch - and here's what he did.

So get your entries in ASAP - should be a fun weekend.
The Dogman will be down next week along with some of the regular NSW crew including Will and Terrene. Guess it's just too cold for some of those north of the NSW border.
Yewwwwww!!!!!!
Just trying to pack all this into a boardbag n then jump on a plane
The start of my annual pilgrimage to the frozen wastelands of the mornington peninsula.
Not sure if ill fit em all in that boardbag but ill definitely die trying....lol
First stop will be Wollongong to pick up the Surftech Sup Circus go go mobile and a heap of new sups n short boards
then it's straight to the dog on the tuckerbox to mark my territory
Then on to frigid Vicco.
For a few shady nights watching a mates funk/fusion band.
N maybe a few road trips to chase a few waves
Bring on the swell n the fricken ice cream headaches....
N maybe dribble some **** to whoeva is unlucky enough to not be able to run fast enough away off into the distance.
Lock up your poodles people!!!!!
It starts NOW!!!!!
Weather is looking good for the weekend - NW on saturday and light winds for Sunday.
For those interested:
Port Phillip Bay water temp: 11.5deg C
Ocean: 13.9deg C
Ice cream headaches for sure!
Looking forward to this race, 17 degrees NW winds almost perfect conditions, forget the icecream headaches, bring out the sunscreen.....
it will be interesting to see who has continued to train through winter.....
It's looking good for both saturday and sunday - perfect wind conditions for both days.
If you're coming to the event, please make sure you get your entry in by Friday - just helps with the admin effort!![]()
