Surfing Queensland
Looks like a good event, any expectations for the numbers that may rock up for this , I need an excuse , again, to head south for a wave followed by an ale ![]()

Wow - how good is this little snippet from the competitor's info:
Wish they allowed interstate competitors in the surfing!
Just had a look through the updated competitor info and great to see the change to the long-distance course for a southerly since the info was first released. (Maybe its old news cause I hadn't looked at it for a while - but great to see nonetheless!)
Yes, the change was made based off feedback received by competitors. The upwind leg now sits at the beginning of the race rather than at the end.

This is correct. Although Surfing Queensland does recommend the use of PFD's, it is not a requirement for SUP or Prone Paddlers in the Marathon, only the Skis.
All SUP and Prone Paddlers however MUST wear a leg rope.

Is this the same for the Aussie titles run by SWQ/SWA?
Hi @Surf4fun, at this stage we have not received the info bulletin from Surfing Australia which will include all safety regs for the 2014 event. We will keep you posted.
Hey SurfingQLD - are there going to be live scores online so those of us who can't be there in person can share the excitement?

Hey Casso..... I don't think it's wise for other states to see the Queenlander's scores, you might get worried come Ozies![]()

Ha.
No, I was only interested in watching the scores so I know when to send you a commiseration text when you bomb out in the repercharge! ![]()
I bet you guys wished the Marathon (Sun) and Technical Race (Fri) were switched around?
At least the conditions for the surfing should be OK.
lads, no one would be dwing Friday if they had sense- way to much to much swell- ideally you want no swell but lots of wind swell. besides how do you get and and in with your board in one piece. I surfed the alley this arvo and it was building again with some very solid sets coming through with the strong off shores messing with the faces.
good chance the technical race was will be in the ck.
now the surfing sup comp at rainbow would be a special![]()
AS much as I think i will be on a loosing ticket here I have just been down to the Alley for a surf check. While the swell is up it has a lot of south in it as well as some strong offshores coming up the Creek keeping clean around from the top of the Alley.
I am conceding that it looks too wild to be able to run it on one of the open beaches without a sudden change in conditions but . . . . . . . . Surfing QLD have a great opportunity to run the 12'6 surf race tomorrow safely off the beach between Lacey's Lane and Palm Beach Surf Club. Lets hope they stay true to their "surfing" roots and throw down the challenge!!

That would be epic , cant see why not. It looked a pretty easy paddle out to me and no one out in the strong sweep.Even safer to have it directly off the little beach at the Alley , head out North towards burleigh have a turning can and come back in closer to the rock. If the swell sticks around the palmy shorebreak may be an issue.Absolutley devoed ill miss it.
Yeah pretty challenging all round conditions . Not sure about the racing but bring it on for the surfing. Yeeeew![]()
Bit of a shame that Surfing QLD want another $50 from my 19yo employee to join when he already has a SUP Club membership associated with Surfing QLD.
Looks like I will have to pay that on top of the $130 I just paid to enter him.
Yep Ocean all the way!!!!!!!!!!
It isn't the Qld flat water titles![]()
actually its not called a surf race or a ocean race- technical and marathon can be anything- so it could be the qld technical flatwater titles lol![]()
