Thanks for the vid.. You were lining something good up at the 5.35 mark and the vid cut.. Shame.. It seems like that bellied nose and rolled v bottom causes that rocking and rolling.. even when planing.. I guess the Ace does it also and probably something you get used to.. The nose boofs and sprinklers but it would be very hard to put it under.. I'm guessing that was a 14 or was it the 12'6".. What board did you use before this one and how does the new board compare?.. How did you cut our foot or was that someone else?

DJ

hI YA dj.

To be honest Im friggin lazy, the nose is so good at just plowing in and righting, I very rarely move my feet or go to a surf stance. I think twice in 11.5km did I need to move back. You can pick it when you see some deck grip in the vid. I probably fell in at 5:35 haha thats why I cut : )

I cracked the rail with a lazy paddle stroke then as I was coming into the beach the fin clipped a rock, I stumbled forward and commando rolled onto the beach much to everyone's amusement. Unfortunately the rail caught me on the way through....that bit of white on the board is my foot still stuck in it. I've got the chunk in the sun curing for beef jerky at the moment.

The board is a 14' x 27" I was on the 2013 version before this one. The new one is a weapon in the ocean, its so easy to get swells and runners, Im only learning (paddling just under 12 months) and it was deceptively rolly out there (everyone had a few swims I think), but I still got a few runs. The wind started at 20 knots SE then moved around to NE over 24 hours, so we had swell coming at us from every direction. The bigger looking swell runners were useless, they just dropped you in and stopped, the wind runners quartered were much longer and fun.

Nice to see a RED down wind video. Can't wait to get my new 14s DW. We've got a race in Sydney this weekend but it's only looking at 5 knots at the moment so hopefully the prediction will change.
The 2014 certainly picks up those runners. Nice vid.

At least the wind and waves are now forecast to be in the same direction
