I have waited until I had a few opportunities to paddle the PSH 14' before I provided some feedback.
I have ridden it 3 times now.
- Waist high waves
- Full chest to head high surf
- Pretty full waist high rollers
In each case I paddled about 1km to the reefs near home.
I actually bought the thing to do some downwind paddling and to let me access a few really full rolling waves where I can go and ride a few on my own. (Unless someone else buys a 14') It actually turns quite well for something that is 14' long. While the board obviously has it's limitations in the surf, it fits the bill for me perfectly for those conditions. (My other board is a PSH Gun Ripper)
I have tried a 10.5" Classic FCS fin and the PSH fin (About 7.5") The FCS was probably too big but the board tracked really well in a straight line, the PSH fin did not track quite so well but made the board heaps easier to spin around in the surf etc. So probably somehting in between would be good...? (Or just change fins)
I have not done any downwind paddling on it yet but I have paddled through some pretty choppy water conditions and it seems to handle those conditions fine. Particularly now that I am familiar with how it handles.
My feedback would be that it is just 'Bloody Great Fun'...! ![]()
Dad
Disappointing you didn't acknowledge the OFBs that test piloted it before you kids got on it, namely The King and Moi..............
Seriously you boys had it easy...........![]()
