Hello all,,i am new to this stand up paddle boarding and am not quite sure which board to get...I live on the gold coast and right on the broadbeach nerang river,,so no excuse not to paddle...My interest is for paddling on the river and out in the open sea just outside of the break,,just for exercise mainly, and the added bonus of being out in the beautiful ocean we have here...I have tried SUP twice and really loved it,,not to sound up myself but i picked it up really quickly as i used to paddle outriggers 20 years ago,,so i had the stroke sorted out,,but far from being perfect and lots of room for improvement.I have tried two types of boards,,one was a Atlantis Halo 10 6" and i found that it did not keep it's line very well as i had to swap sides every 3 strokes to keep from veering off to one side...the price was $900 something,...the other board was a Titan 12 6" i think it was called a touring board slash downwinder at $ 650 which i thought was a good price for that type of board,,it definiately kept it's line while paddling even after 10 strokes and was smooth too...So i guess my question is ,,any opinions on the Titan 12 6" and the price too...thanks all.

Hi There

You could get any of those boards and be happy. The problem lies in your accelerated learning and then the board becomes under geared for you.

But if just cruising around will be fine even when your skill n fitness levels increase. It's all about what you want the board for.

Go demo a few and/or get a lesson.

A good instructor can have you try a few boards and explain the benefits and pitfalls.

Cheers

Sounds like the 12.6 is made for you ..I have paddled the halo 10.6 a few times ,it does lean more towards a wave orientated board ,with a river close by ..go the 12.6 ...you might even look at a 14' they paddle even better .

I agree.. I'm thinking at your size.. weight.. and type of use the bigger 12'6" would be best.
