Hi I'm 103 kgs and I have the option of either board I had a demo on the 2013 was a great board just worried the 2014 will be to unstable has anyone used the 2014 as there is no demo available of that board in my area.
Cheers Dean
Hi Dean, I have ridden the 9'5 2013 and the 9'5 2014 9'5 WP in the carbon and the 2014 IMO is a better board. Felt looser, stable and the weight was a clear advantage. Naish have some very cool LE coming out now to. Lots of choices. Good luck
Hi windara,
Thanks for replying I have a few questions on the 2014 board has it kept the nose rocker and wide nose.does it come with quad fin boxes.having never surfed a squash tail does this affect the board.also it says It's more stable but in the brochure it has a lower stability rating.
Cheers Dean
Hi Dean, The carbon 2014 9'5 WP may have a little more nose rocker than the 2013 and similar nose width but only comes as a thruster. Its a great all round board, stable and being 93 kilo it floated me no worries. I ended up going to the 8'3 WP and love it.
Just went out today for my 2nd session on 2014 9'5" Widepoint brushed carbon. I'm 225 lbs (100k)? Wearing a wetsuit also. Had a blast! Waist to chest high glassy waves and the board is opening up some new possibilities for me and SUP surfing. Spent 8 mos. on a 11'x31 1/4x5 and first time out on the WP I struggled due to chop and lousy conditions. Paddled it twice on flat water sound and had no problem. Today I started to get it wired and know it's going to work now especially when Spring comes and I get out of the wetsuit. It will snap some turns! Some guys on here told me to stick with it and keep getting on it till I get my sea-legs on it. They were right. I love it!
110 kgs love my new widepoint, soooo fast and loose in the juice especially after the whopper, just a bit shaky in the wind, but i will stick with it.
Thanks for the feed back guys my 2014 arrived but it only has tri fin boxes shouldn't it have quad boxes ?
no. 2014 tri fin set up, don't let that worry you, if you want a bit more skaty feel get an adaptor and a small rear fin, works well for me.
