Which Inflatable?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the market for an inflatable to add to the stable. Mainly for the kids and family holidays and just general crusing around. I currently own two 2013 Starboard All Star's in 12'6x26" and 12'6x27.5".

I'd like to get one of the skinnier inflatable models that might cruise a bit faster, like the 2016 Starboard Astro Race 12'6x28" or the 2016 Fanatic Falcon Air 12'6x29" as an example.

What I'm wondering is how stable these skinny inflatables feel when compared to a hard board with sharp rails of the same width. Given that I'm semi-comfortable on a 26" wide All Star (depending on the conditions), is a 28" wide inflatable going to be problematic for me?

Any advice on inflatables in general would be appreciated. (I have read the other big thread on here about Red Paddle SUP's - great info BTW)

Many thanks, Damo

I think a 28" wide inflatable board will be perfectly fine for you. The 30" wide inflatables are like aircraft carriers. Can't wait to see the new Starboard Astro Racers. They are due to land in a couple of weeks I believe.

also look at RedPaddleCo 12'6 x 28. Much superior stiffness and handling with the batten system in the rails.
