Hi guys, I am looking to get into the sup side of things, looks like good fun and fitness. Question: I weigh 80kgs and paddle surf and kite so how difficult is a small (7'2"ish) -wave specific sup -paddlewise for a beginner in beach break conditions. Thanks
Yeah ok so it sounds pretty difficult haha, I was considering my 80kgs and abit of oceanknowledge I could gets away with it. But I don't wanna be having too hard a time getting through a beachie again and again. Thanks will def demo something a bit bigger.
Another query. Also considering a big ass ocean going downwind board as I'm on the sunny coast and there's great options for ocean down winders for either NE-SE conditions.this may sound silly considering the amount of variables but roughly how long does it take you guys to do say 20Kms ocean downwind with 15-20 knts at the back? Thanks again

I'm guessing it would take at least 1 1/2 -2 hrs to do 20klms in 15-20 knts
Join the Sunshine Coast stand up paddle club is my best advice. They are a cool crew and will give you the chance to see a few different boards in person and pick up a few pointers..
.
I just picked up the 9'2" Evoke from the sbwh. After learning to float and surf small waves on a bigger longboard sup I reckon the dirt cheap EPS version on special is the perfect 1st board for someone crossing over; easy to offload when you want to go down in size, and it'll take some beginner paddle knocks better than the more expensive carbon version.
