I have only been SUPing for under a year and love it.
So, I was out for a paddle on a 14' Hobie Elite in the normally swell free Sydney Harbour when I got to Neilsen Park and found that Huey had provided some unique 3-4' righthanders in the middel of the harbour.

The 14' Elite is designed to go straight but surfs well too.
I had a great time on it mostly because of the Monster Paint Traction on the back of it that completely added to being able grip the back of the board.

I cant wait to get out in the waves on it again and also to try some MPT on my mal!

Shaggy,
there has been a fair bit of talk on other threads about surfing on race boards. Any comments on the difference between the square tail of the Hobie and the Pintail of other 14' boards like the Angulo Shaka?

I think the square tail on the Hobie Elite gives it added stability with less width, athough in the flat you can stand at the forward edge of the grip deck to get a good release.
The rails at the tail are also pretty sharp and give the board that extra manoeuvrability on smaller waves and runners compared to a tighter tail like a pin. I think the design actually makes it better chasing runners or picking up a few cheeky waves! Yeew!
