Gday!
Wanted to share my new sunova longboard! I have a speed 8.10 but wanted something longer...so here it is ! 9.10x29.5 @127 liters
I asked bert for a narrow squash tail and the nose to be more pointy than the style with more rocker also and the result is great! Bert had to reduce the size of the board by 2' to accomodate the change from pintail to square tail and increase the widght by 0.5 inchs..something to do with the fins being too close to the rail otherwise. I kept the tradmark sunova wood finish as i found it timeless and classic look.
Had 2 surfs with it in overhead to chest high and the board performs beyond my expectations..the nose allows for late take off and the squash tail for more abrupt change of direction..it feels bigger than the 127 liters and stability is amazing! Me at 92 kgs early 40' average longboard background and i feel its a one board quiver if required. It is not designed for pure nose riding but allows for some if waves permitting .its a quad + 1 fin set up so you can play with tri or quad or single fin set up based on the mood..
In short cant talk highly enough of the board and the guys at sunova for making this happen!

nice one![]()
whats it like when you ride it on the tail.?
Hi tardy
I would say more abrupt turns..kind of more pivotal than smooth long turns if it make sense..?!
ok... reason i ask i had a hokua 9'10 ...it liked been ridden on the tail..
but super fast .

Thanks supthecreek!
Actually the creek model is not bad also..??
OK so why the squash tail on a longboard?
Basically because all my favorite noseriders of the 60's were square or squash, so I have a built in preference. I always liked to have "corners" to turn off.
Pintails in those days were very sticky, it wasn't until SUP that I began to appreciate a rounded pin.

Same here! All my longboards used to be squash/square tails..im kind of used to it .And some squash tails can be very narrow giving you a bit of both tails advantage .
Really nice board and something I would consider if I could get it as a "stocker" stateside. How about some rocker pics?
