I love this board. It's now my one and only go-to wave board for all conditions. When the Starboard truck came to town, I gave the other boards in the range a go, but I just kept coming back to the 10' Nut.

Ditto to PTs comments - I have the 10ft (and the 7'8" hyper). Am no expert and at 95pies no light weight but board plenty stable. To me really notice the speed of this board across the wave, turns nice and great glide. Startouch on the nose great for getting fwd when you are a little early/on fat waves. Nice pad, good handle and seems pretty chop resistant - all in all a qualtiy product. Think wodth is the key here, dont want to be too wide if you want 'preformance' supping. My mate had a 8'10x 32 WP which he loved, but one go on the 10ft nut had him changeing over. Hardly ever use the hyper.....
* way too much of a hubbard to be a team rider, do get all my gear from Boardcrazy in Brisvegas, but not affiliated with any particular brand.

Hi Slab

Just to clarify at the beginning I am NOT A STARBOARD TEAM RIDER however I do have a financial interest in SUP as an accredited SUP school owner/operator as well as selling SUP boards and accessories.

My warehouse/shop currently has in stock boards from Naish, Starboard, Smik, and a few other smaller brands.

Most of the time I ride a Naish 2016 8'6 x 28 GTW in the surf, when teaching SUP on Port Phillip Bay (flat water location in Victoria) I will basically ride anything that is available in our fleet.

I like standard design SUP's as well as alternate design perspective shapes and was drawn to the Nut concept on first seeing the Nut in a brochure and looking into the history of this board. The 9' Nut was my favourite ride for a long time until I sold it on.

Tom Morey was one of the first designers to release a mid sidecut rail board he called the swizzle stick in the 1960's.

Below is an American Soldier in Vietnam with his home made jungle swizzle, this board design looks ready to Stand Up Paddle Surf.
" Tom Luker (pictured whilst still serving in the Vietnam war) found out about the shortboard revolution through SURFER Magazine and cut a 9'6" down to an 8 foot jungle swizzle stick."

Below is a clip I made on the 10' Nut last year, my wife has the 9'8 Element in Carbon and I have surfed this board a few times, they are very different in design and performance.
In my opinion the Element has finer rails and would suit high performance waves for a heavy set person or small waves for a light weight person starting out in the surf.
10' Nut described in my light hearted clip.

Nice vid.....looks a fun board. Just trying to get my head around having a small back end yet a fairly beefy nose and how that translates into how it actually rides. Whether it carves well or is a pivot type board. Can it handle better waves with a bit of steepness on the take off?

Seeing as you sell Naish too ...how does it compare to the 10 6 Nalu? Many thanks for the feedback.

Hi Slab
10' Nut Carves very well due to the hip/bump in the aft section which becomes your pivot point during bottom turns and mid face bottom turns. This is the essence of this design I believe. On smaller waves (like the backside small right hander in the clip) you can pump and generate speed very easily for a board of that size.
The inverted rails make the Nose look a little more beefy, the nose pod can be utilised well for nose style riding.
Handles bigger take offs with ease.
Nash 10'6 Nalu is a totally different 'kettle of fish' more of a point and go trimming board however I only had the single fin of this model, a good gliding flat water paddle board favoured by my wife and I a few summers ago.
Cheers
Jack
Below are some pics from the day I shot the beach break section of the 10' Nut clip.
