Hi guys
I was after a higher cadence paddle for a little while as my normal surf paddle is about 94 sq" and full carbon.
It's the only real paddle I've used and known so although a few people have said it's way to big for me (72kg), I've adapted fine and have no issues on long paddle sessions. Only after multiple days or trying to flat water paddle my surf sup against the wind where I start to feel it straining my arms and shoulders.
I came across someone selling a starboard bolt s40 tiki tech in medium for relatively cheap and thought why not give it a crack.
While being nearly a 10 sq" smaller head, and drastically different blade design, I didn't really notice a significant difference in paddle cadence or effect. A little, but not what I was expecting to feel.
I also felt it flex soo much on power strokes, that it felt almost inefficient or that it might snap. That was the biggest difference in feeling.
Has anyone else tried the tiki tech or S40 shaft stiffness and had similar thoughts?
S40 is not even the 'flexible' variant so wouldn't have thought it would have felt so soft.
