Can anyone tell me which one is the better of the two. My main concern is how stable the pro is compared to the element and what is the difference in surfability

depends what u are after....

the element will be a lot more stable

the pro should turn a heap better...

disclaimer....(i'm no expert i've only had a shot on my mates pro)

i'm looking for a new board at the mo,,, tipping the scales at 94kg's i found the pro a bit wobbly on the chop....legs were working over time when stationary.... on the wave it felt fantastic, i didn't get a long test though coz my mate wanted to swap board back pretty quickly...ha ha ha....

if i surfed glassy conditions 80%+ or dropped 15kgs then i'd get a board like this!!!!
not sure ......

Which element ? and which pro ? there have been two elements in the last coupla years that differ quite a bit and there are several pro models which are all radically different.

I was thinking about the old element 09 model. compared to the 2010 pro.

Yeah. I am torn between the 9'8" x 29 camo which I can get new or second hand 09 element. I am about 90 kegs and have a new element but don't like it very much. It doesn't seem to noseride like the old one. I test rode the old one for an hour and had a ball.

The 9.8 x 29 pro will surf very much the same as the new element that you don't like. The newer model element was pulled in slightly in the nose and the entry rocker tweaked to make it a little more high performance and better in steeper waves. The only real advantage the new element has over the pro is that it's more stable, but they aren't an unstable board anyway. The old model element is a gem and for a sup it does noseride pretty well and has, in my opinion a really nice longboardy feel about it - which I personally really liked also. Its funny how some of the older model starboards have such a special place in some of our hearts hey ? (I have an '08 model Starby that's still my fave sup of all time)
Sounds like you know what you want - just go with your heart mate.

Thanks for that. Looks like I will be selling the element and getting a second hand oldy. What's a few chips anyway.
