Hi guys, I'm from the UK and surf Bantham beach in 1 - 6 foot on an 8 foot minimal. Been surfing for 20 years - intermediate standard but at 50 years old starting to slow down. Took up paddle boarding last year and enjoy cruising and small wave fun on Naish Nalu 11' 4". Want to get into SUP surfing more and have been looking at the Starboard 9'8" or maybe dropping to a Fanatic all wave 9'1". I like the shorter length of the Fanatic but worry about the volume (160l) vs the 148l of the starboard. I'm 85kg. I have a Naish nalu 11'6" for river cruising and coastal safaris so not worried about flat water paddling with new board.

Any of you down under peeps have any views for an ole dog like me?

Much appreciated.

Simon.

Well the guys here are probably going to recommend a 7-10x27" 90L board or something like that because they surf great quality waves. But this is the UK we are taking about ...

You need to demo some boards. Many people love the All Wave. But I disliked it with a vengeance, despite rather liking other boards in the Fanatic range. It's such a personal thing.

Hi im in the uk and surf bantham i have a starboard 9'5 wide point when i started using it i was over 110 kgs and hated the board for about 14 days.
I then got my see legs and dropped down to 101 kgs i now love the wide point suits most conditions.
At your weight you not thought about the pocket rocket ? i find that your body weight plus 50 works well for me in full winter wet suit.
but you need to demo a few boards.
