A phenomenal range there. That said, it must take quite a bit of coin to carry all those items, or even just a small range, as a retailer. Imagine being a distributor? Oh...
Quality stuff though.
Has it gone now? The link doesn't seem to be working for me. What date is (or was) the official 2016 Starboard SUP range announcement?

Could that massive channel in the bottom be a bit of a gimmick? The windsurfing brands are apparently known for their model turnover mentality each year. Could this be just the same kind of thing, but now part of the SUP industry?
I'm being quite cynical here I know but...
2012 / 2016 28 wide boards. Is interesting
Yes, having paddling the new Allstar 28" x 14' and owned a Coastrunner for many years....they've done it!
Faster and more stable!
Goochi.. That is exactly what I wanted to hear..
I just love the coast runner though it isn't exactly quick. (I call it the Cadillac) And when down winding on the tail it gets a little sketchy on the rails compared to newer boards.. I didn't think you could find a more stable board I almost always come in dry on a dw on the coastie.
What do you think of the channel running through it? It clearly works for flat water speed but in lumpy down wind stuff ?
Could the starby crew please make sure there's heaps of notice for the demo tour this year? Love to have a crack on the 7'2 and 6'10 hypernuts ![]()

No gimmick IMO.. There's a vid coming that shows how and why they came up with this new design.
I've heard that the new Javelin Maliko also has a big concave.. and about time.. We've known from windsurfing that concaves promote eary planing.
Yep concave aids that board to lift making it quick..
I've paddled behind my mate on his race many times (he is a quick sprinter) and you can see it working..
I'm not sold on the need for it down winding though but as long as you don't loose any stability down windng then there's no loss really
I just bought last week a 2015 Race 14x25 for flatwater paddling. :)
The bottom has a double concave in the standing area. that makes it pretty stable (actually more stable as my former 2014 Sprint14x26). The monoconcave starts further down back. With windsurfing an double concave ads control and eases the ride a bit as it chanels air between the bottom and the water while the mid of the double, the V ads stability and tracking. a monoconcave channels the water/air below the board. In windsurfing we see using (double) concaves is the last 10y pretty standard.btw I know this is a 2015 and not a 2016 board but I was shocked by how much faster it was compared to my former Sprint and I blame mostly the concaves for it so its for me no suprise we gonnasee them more in 2016.

Yes.
One year production run only.

Have to agree with you DJ. I loved concaves on my windsurf boards and have them to some extent or another on all of my surfboards. I pushed for it this year on the Fanatic Falcon Protos but as yet haven't been able to get one. I might take the planer to a proto next year and try it myself.

actually nnsup did I spy a maliko type nose on a proto falcon somewhere
andy that reverse bump has me more worried than the concave. I just keep seeing tracking, sticky, pearly when ever I look at it. dam it - such a awesome looking nose.
dj, anther good dwer today on the maliko- im loving it and other paddlers keep say how good it looks dw ing. probably because im standing a long way back and surfing most of the time
why do starboard insist on calling the aces good in choppy water. refer to area
