I broke my old SUP in two. It was a good companion for 5+ years, so I'm not complaining (8'10" Sunova Steeze 120 liters) I bought a Starboard Spice limited 8'2" (there were some actually available near me) , and took it out on a choppy conditions expecting a frustrating day on a new board, but it blew my mind. I got out in some onshore sloppy chop, and balanced on the board no problem. But when I caught my first wave I did more turns than I thought were possible. I even felt that I was "slashing" for the first time. But it wasn't a fluke, as I caught 3 more waves that were even better!! It just was so responsive!

Well done Starboard!!

Yeah, agreed that it's a great all rounder everyday board. I still have my 8'8" for the truly hairy days and I have tried the 8'2" on a demo day. It was fab, but I ended up getting the 8'2" Pro instead.

Thanks Rick. They had it in stock in Gloucester and with shipping etc it was too much to wait for a Sunova. I hope this board is half as hearty as my Steeze. That board saw a lot of waves!!!

The spice is probably the best all round board I've owned, and I've owned more than I care to count! I've got the 8'8 carbon. Super light and strong, really stable but really carves on the wave. There's a little bit of magic in this board.... I think it's the beveled rails make it surf like a narrower one.
