Looking for some information, heading back to Maldives next year, will be my 3rd trip. Looking to get a new board for the trip, but get it early to get dialled in on it. Was all set to purchase a 8'10" Sunova Acid, but then started reseaching the Smik Spitfire. There are lots of favourable reviews on the Acid, but looking for any experiences with the Spitfire.
Last St trip to Maldives took a 8' L41 & a Wallbridge 9' custom. Currently riding a 8'5" Speed and precious 2 boards, L41 is starting to show a few years of hard use.
The acid are epic in steeper faster waves I ride a 8.10 and love it I got it for indo and Maldives next year perfect board . But the smik look real nice tough decision

Totally agree and love mine
I just came back from the Maldives with an 8'7 and 9'1 Acid - they were perfect. I am afraid I have zero experience with the Smik.
Hi Scott, thanks for the video, have seen a few with your boards and am interested, do you have anywhere is SA I can view them, looking at the 8'8" Spitfire

I have been meaning to demo a Smik too, but haven't got around to it yet. But the 5 board comparison that Surffx did has some good food for thought (there are some threads on the forum with the video). Two of the boards they compare are an 8'3 Smik Spitfire and a Sunova Flow. What I take away from the comparison is that the Fanatic, JP and Starboard are slightly higher performance boards than the Smik and the Sunova, but what was interesting for me was Piros saying in the wash-up that if he had to have one board for all conditions, it would be the Smik.
Anyway, let us know how the demo goes.
Did a demo with the 8'8" Spitfire today, only small surf 1 to 2 foot, but glassy conditions. Was impressed with board stability, was easy to get onto a wave, once on the wave is when this board shines. Felt like riding a shortboard, it turns on a dimes, and is fast down the line. Ordering a new one on Monday, selling a few other boards now.

Hi TWs,
Just wondering if you ended up getting the 8'8" Spitfire, and what you think of it?
I'm a tad over 80kg and considering one, interested in your take on the board, especially in relation to paddle speed & speed on the wave
(I usually ride 30" & under boards, concerned the 31.5" may make it slower?)
Cheers

Hi Damo
Yes did get the 8'8" Spitfire, have to say I love it. It's super stable, paddles well, easy to catch a wave and surfs brilliantly. At your weight I would be looking at a smaller Spitfire, 8'3" is around 110 litres. Even thinking of getting one myself for those perfect days.
I see see there is a couple of ex demo Spitfires on here for sale at a good price.
I can highly recommend them
Cheers
