Hi
I'm 65 years young and been surfing longboards for most of my life. Although I consider myself to be fit I'm finding paddling on a longboard more difficult and looking to move to an SUP. I plan on using it in small rolling surf at my local beach, only occasionally if ever for flatwater paddling. I stand 188cms and 99kgs dripping wet.
I'm thinking a SUP around 11'4" long, 30"+ wide and 4 1/2" thick. Am I on the right track? And if so can you suggest any other alternative boards? Any tips to stear me in the right direction greatly appreciated. Thanks
Sounds about right Tim.... although, probably better off with something around 11' 5"....
I bet you get plenty of suggestions about Naish Nalu from others... but there are plenty of others that might suit you, depending on price. New TC Long Grain might suit you if you are looking for a sup with longboard feel... or Sunova Kruze 12' for a really stable ride, but essentially a long board.Dont get hung up on a certain length or dimensions though.... see if you can demo some or even get a "loaner".

Your close.. This is what you need..
.. it's 11'x31''
Hey i'm 60, same height and weight with the same experience in surfing. Started with a 11' Laird, used it 5 or 6 times, went to a 10' then straight to a 9'6" at 153 liters and have loved it. Way more stable than my 11' and about the same as the 10'. It has the versatility to ride as a longboard but also get on the tail and throw it around. I have just bought a 7'10" Minion at 124 liters and have learn't what people have been telling me for a while. Less buoyancy can be more stable or too much can be less. A couple of guys I sup with are 65 95kgs and on a 8'8'' JP widebody and another at the same age 90 kgs and on a Coreban Fusion 9'. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Hi Tim, I would suggest to chose the type of Long SUP around 11' with the same feeling you would chose your favorite proned longboard. I mean just chose same kind of outline, rocker, fin position up to your style and local wave .Long SUP is the same with just a bit pull out dimensions to fit around 140liters of buoyancy to allow you to stand up paddling your new longboard.
I wish to you that holding a paddle walking on to the nose will become natural and fun soon![]()
I more or less agree with Kami.
What type of longboard do you most enjoy riding? Can narrow the search with that answer.
Sunova Kruze 12' for a really stable ride, but essentially a long board.
Have you had the chance to try the 10'6" Kruze?
