Seeking some advice - may be doing a road-trip from Brisbane to Sydney later this month, and wondering about leaving 2 x SUP's (Naish Mana GS and Naish Odysseus) on the roof of the parked car for a couple hours on a ridiculously hot day while doing something else - obviously would never do that due to foam expansion / delamination risk etc. under normal circumstances.

My query is - if I take the (non-breathable) vent plugs out for the trip (remembering to put back in before paddling!) and both boards are in board bags with the silver side up and the zips slightly opened to allow heat out, will that sufficiently mitigate the direct sun exposure and keep them safe from popping / delam? Does having a 'double-stack' of boards (one on top of the other) make for a higher cumulative heat in the foam of both boards?

Any advice appreciated

It should work, lots of people do it.
I would try to loosen a bit the straps, in case the boards heat up and soften a bit, so that the straps do do dig in the rails. And maybe spray some water on top of the bags before leaving the car.
