Hi All,
I got a way smaller board now and I was wondering if I also have to go down in paddle size and length.
I went out yesterday and it was really choppy. (Just to practice my balance on the board, I am fine when it is clean)
It felt as if it would be a big help to have a smaller paddle blade so you can paddle at a higher stroke rate.
Will shortening the paddle length will increase the stroke rate as well or is a smaller blade the way to go?

Just wondering if anyone has some experience in this department.
Can you make a carbon blade smaller by sanding it down? I have no idea of the size but it sees quite large compared to what I saw in the shop.

thanks!

I find the paddle same height as me for surfing works well , as for blade size i wouldnt think it would matter to much.

I wouldn't sand your paddle down ..specially if its a good carbon one .I would buy another one ..maybe a 8.0 vario .when I'm on a longer board in still water,i use a longer paddle .in surf a little shorter depends on how choppy .You can paddle a bit faster with a smaller Paddle .but loss horsepower .I'm 95 kg and use a 8.5 naish vario .And in the surf I've cut a makani to size .as I don't like the vario's in the surf ,cause they take on water .if you get a vario you can experiment ,and see what works for you .If your paddle feels too long and big it probably is .
