G'day,
Any thoughts on whether paddle tap is better for keeping a firm grip on your paddle or is wax better?
I'm looking here for wax: elementexpeditions.homesteadcloud.com/collection
Maybe here for a tap option: www.tegsgrip.com/

Grip or wax gents & ladies?
Cheers
I use foam grip on my race paddle, works well with good grip and doesn't cause blisters etc. I use wax on my surf paddle, grip is great and has better feel for surfing than foam/tape, need to make sure you use a fairly hard/cold water wax and can chew your hands out if you're going a long distance.
I have a KeNalu XTuf and don't need additional grip. Tried Dragon Grip - definitely increases traction but I also found I got the occasional blister after long paddles. Then again, that could be more due to my soft office worker hands.... ;)
Wax.....even on my KeNalu. Cold water Sex Wax. Same as on my surfboard. Good grip and no problem on my hands. A bit messy. Need care with where you put the paddle in the car.

This works fine just put the join at the back of the paddle not at the front as I did. Had this on since Jan works fine

Same setup here but with RSPro. Most of teh time it is great. Long paddle in difficult conditions and hot to bout and blisters. Almost like heat blisters actually.
I just sand very, very, lightly the shaft with 400 grit
Just one or two passes. More and you risk blisters.
One good solution was also a thin veil of spray-on grip, like monster paint, that you sand afterwards to smooth it.
I used wax at first, and it is a nice solution for SUP surfing, if you wax your board (I don't) so things are already messy anyways.
Thanks Gents.
When you say, wax, do you mean regular prone surfing wax or specific/specialty paddle wax?
Thanks for all this feedback.
I use a paddle wax Specific one, which seems ok

Regular wax works, but you must get the hardest one you can find, otherwise the hands heat will melt it. Most of the time it is the one used for the base layer, or the ones made for the hottest climates.
Thanks Gents.
