Thinking about getting one of these for the kids, age 8 and 10, has anybody got any experience with them?

Thanks,
Scott.

My kids (7yr twins) have got a spud. Perfect for kids to jump on, splash around and get pushed into a few waves. Will not offer a lot of progression however and at the age of your two you may be better off at looking for something more traditional. The spud is very fat and does not track particularly well. If you hold any hope of the kids going close to keeping up with you on gentle paddle you will need something with a more traditional shape.

O&E make some other soft top boards (Sqeeze?) more targeted at adults. I have seen a few in surf ridden by adults and they look to go alright. One of these in the shorter lengths would be ideal. Other wise keep an eye out for the second hand adult boards in the more durable constructions I reckon.

Agreed. The 7'6 squeeze looked pretty durable and would not be too heavy. Would pick that ahead of Spud.

Thank you both, sounds like I may need to give it some further thought.
The soft-top appeals to me, largely for safe/durable transportation in the boat, but I guess that isn't anything a cover won't fix. Will start looking a bit further to see what is available in a more traditional design, but still at an acceptable price point.

Thanks,
Scott.
