On the Quatro HP they anounce a new Kay Lenny Edition model called Midlength which is specced as an Twinfin.
I own a 2019 Quatro Glide 8'6 x 32, 130 liters, which i recently also converted into a Twinfin using Future K1 Keels and boy this feels like rocket fuel on in the board. While my 3 week trip to Portugal i could compare the Keels back to back to the original Thruster and also to a MFC Quad setup and found the Twin setup really spiced up the board regarding speed an turning.
There's not much to read about Quatro SUPs here (and elsewhere) but now i wonder if stepping up to the new Kai Lenny Midlength would be a logical step up in my SUP evolution, thinking about the 140 liter model 8'8 x 31.
Has anybody seen these boards in real life or other infos than the stuff on the Quatro HP?
Quatro - Boards - Mid Length

I've noticed the shops are giving a huge discount on the current Quatro inventory. Makes me think they'll be releasing updated boards soon.

These look pretty nice and fairly light.I like how the pro has my dims as an option but not into fcs. Looks like no goretex vent. Wish they would post nose/tail widths and a little video. The volumes seem a little low compared to the thickness, but who knows with production boards.
I wonder if supboarder will review
Confused by the marketing on the mid-length, it's a KT/Kai Lenny twin fin but it says it's for beginner to intermediate surfers and the widths start at 30"... I like the 9x27 dims for longboard.
I guess Its a range of boards stepped up from the KL original designs and model for the rest of us or maybe his dads pro model :-)
Phil
I know the boards sold out US quick, lets get an Average Joe review. ;)
Also interested in any reviews of the SB Twin 8'2".
And who will be stocking them in Australia??? Called SHQ but they wanted 50% deposit and maybe delivery next Jan / Feb ?????
surly someone else is bringing them into Australia
I remember asking SHQ a couple of years back for a Quatro Sup. Was over $3500 then and a 6 month+ wait...
Do you have any idea which fins you'd use on the midlenth?
In Kay's YT vid they show it with a 2+1 Twin setup.
Since i really like the Future K1 Keels in my Glide 8'6 i wonder which fins would fit best to the midlenght.
I have the the Quatro carve , 7'7 93litres . construction amazing , very fast design . Have to say after 17 years on a sup , been through buckets of boards . , these are weapons . Wish they made a gun ??
Cool how's the rail engagement? Do they feel thick, what volume ratio are you riding?
Video on site, I'm pretty sure he is riding a custom in the shortboard segment which seems kind of bogus.
Would also like some input on the Performance Board as well. Thinking about the 8'8" ML as my wife's crushing board and something I can use for groveling conditions. ;)
Where's the Average Joe reviews?
Any updates on the boards after a few months in ?
I posted reviews on the Infinity Twin Post. Got my wife the 8'8" ML and it's a keeper. If it was me I would have gone for the 8'6" as I'm 80kg's but it's a super easy and you'll find it carves much better than the Glide. I like it w just Keels or MR Twins. I have the 8'4" Surf and it's one of the best surfing SUP's I've owned over the past 20+ years. It's fast and loose.
Not the Mid Length, but I did get to try a KL Surf Pro 8'4" a couple of weeks ago in Maui. I only got a couple sessions in because it was the beginning of the big Kona storms they had for 2 weeks.
It is a little more volume than my current board, 130L vs 115L, but dimensionally quite similar 8'4" x 30 vs. 8'5 x 30. It was much more stable than I expected (and than my Blurr v3) and I was pretty comfortable on it from the start. I feel like I had to concentrate a bit more to get the rail to "bite" on bottom turns but that could be any combination of: conditions, technique, new board, new spot jitters, etc. Kai Lenny can surf them so it is really probably just a me problem. That being said, both sessions were really fun on it. Waist to chest on the first session and shoulder-head high in the second. Enough so, that it is on my short list of next boards to consider - maybe the 8'2" version.
Construction is really nice and it looks great! It is not as light as my Infinity, however.
I was really hoping to try an 8'2 Carve Pro as well but they only had an 8'0" and that would have really been pushing my limit I think.

I had the same feeling first outing w a Large Reactor Tri setup. When I switched to Twins w a trailer it hit another level of speed and looseness. Quad setup felt good too but not as loose. I'd probably use the quad setup for bigger days.
