Hey everyone, i am finding myself enjoying sup surfing a lot lately. I currently have an SIC Recon 11'11"x 31"and enjoy it very much. Yesterday i was out in some 4-7' footers on Lake Michigan and had a blast! But as i was riding a few waves i began to wonder if i could go a bit shorter in board length, but also a bit wider. The Naish Mana GS - 10'x33" looks good to me. Do you think the shorter length and added width with be as stable as the SIC Recon? I enjoy the recon because i also use it on flat water with my kids, or if i take someone along to learn SUP. If i got the Mana, i would use it primarily for SUP surfing. I'd like to go shorter in an SIC, but they lack the volume i feel that i need.

I am 6'4" tall and 225lbs.

Thanks for the input.

At your height and weight you'd have no problem on the 10' Mana and it would be a good choice IMO.. I'm sure you will notice a big difference in surfing performance over the longer 11'11" Recon.. I'm your height and very close to your weight and love my 9'5" Mana.. The 9'5" Mana would not be as stable as your SIC board but I'm sure the 10' Mana would be very close.. Maybe even more stable.. Is there any way you can demo one to see for yourself?

Yep ,your on it.
the mana is very good because of that reason .. A 10 footer @190 litres
and 33' wide makes it a breeze to surf ..It was my number one board, and learnt so much on that board
before selling it to buy smaller . i only went to a 170 litre .Hokua .you would be happy with it .Its a big mans wave board
its also very good to paddle around ... go for it

Thanks guys. I have just started my search for another, more surf oriented board. I Have the Recon and 2 -F14s and hopefully a Bullet V2 coming soon too. But SIC doesn't have anything in the 10' range that i think will float me. I have not really paid much attention to surf SUP until the past few months. I've been enjoying it a lot, even though most of what we surf is in the 2-3' range. Yesterday was 4-7' and a total blast. I think the 10' Mana will be a good addition to my quiver. Bit i am going to look around a bit. There's no where i can try a 10' Mana unfortunately.
