Hello,
My name is Jason. Nice to meet you all. I am new to SUP. My exp is limited to testing a few on the lake. I have surfing exp and ride a 5.7 and 10 mal, but have no idea or experience with SUP's... I could use some advice from the pros picking a board. I've narrowed the board down to the Naish Nalu GT and would like some advice on what size to get.
About me
- male
- 6.1
- 75 kgs
Usage
-daily 45 minute 6am paddle for fitness along Terrigal Beach (fairly flat and protected) and paddle around the headland (Haven), might sneak the odd wave in
-weekend surfing when the waves are small (1-2 foot)
Would it be OK to share your thoughts on what board would be the best size for me please?
Thank you for the help.
Cheers,
Jason
Hey Jason
For your weight and experience the 10.6 Nalu is the pick IMHO
I have one in my quiver, one of the best got to mals out there.
If you surf you will find the 11 will be a bit of a boat and you will out grow it in no time
and at 75 kegs you will find it hard to throw around when you eventually do go into the surf.
the 10.6 is great for flatwater fitness, everyone in the family can ride it and its just perfect in the waves
regards
D
10'6" at your weight. Definitely. I've been using mine in all kinds of conditions of late, and at 6'3" 95+ kgs it handles anything. Great for the rest of the mob too. ![]()

The 10'6 Nalu is a board that fits into every quiver.... can't go wrong!
They are great in all surf conditions and are really nice on flat-water.
Here's a vid of my 10'6 Alana (same as Nalu.... just different paint) if you get the GT, you will have sidebites as well.
Shows how it goes in a variety of conditions. I am 66 YO 100 kg
