Just picked up my new Glide and will give a review of how she paddles as soon as I can get a chance along with the new Naish 70% Carbon paddle.
The Zu looked after me as always and will get a bag maybe next week if I have any money left before Chrissy. I will say it looks great if you don't look too close but the matt finish could be better for the $$$$, I am tough on looks having been a Spray Painter a loooong time ago. I hate swirl marks on cars so sanding marks are my pet hate and the matt finish shows them up badly if you know how to look at a surface. Of course this has nothing to do with performance and the sand will do its job in time as well but I like a perfect starting point so that is my only sook.

l will let you know how she goes asap.

Nice Dave ...how did you get it to stick to the roof like that?

has quite a chunkier nose compared to my 28' javelin .
should be great paddler ...

amazes me how well a 14' will pick up a little swell and ride till nothing's left .

the new 2017 paddles have a nice flex .i have the new 2017 fixed wave..I think they have improved a lot this season .

enjoy the love boat.

Super glue will hold anything to the roof!!??

Looking forward to to breaking her in this weekend!!!

apparently the windage is less on this model compared to last years?

On paper the Glide has more volume this year and is a bit thicker up front, so I don't really see how it would have less windage. Not from these pics anyways. Different nose this year with the down turn too. I have the previous 14 x 29 Glide, so I'm interested on the feedback from the new shape.

On that board I reckon you can travel across the channel to the west of Williamstown/Altona or down to chealsea and back no probs. I had a glide once and wish I keep it as it handle the bay conditions well and I could go on paddling forever.

Paddle number 1.

Well I managed to get off work early today, OK I took off from work early while no one noticed and went to Elwood for a test run!

I had a slight cross wind which varied in direction and there was a bit of chop coming in on a 45 degree angle so it was a good chance to see how stable the Glide really is, and she is great for stability especially compared to my 10' Mana in the same conditions as you would expect. I headed straight into the chop and the nose just cuts through nicely and when it goes under a wave it pops up very quickly and did not slow me down or make me feel like I lunged forward.
I tried different positions for my feet front and back and going into the wind I found standing almost at the handle worked best. WHen I stood back a lot more the board vibrated a lot when it came down from hitting some chop. When I went with the wind I tried the same position but it pearled when chop came from behind so I stepped back a bit more until the tail was level with the water, not sure if it's best that way???

Side on to the chop was also very stable and I had no trouble even when the waves were closer together, the waves did push the nose to one side a bit but adjusting for that was really easy.

I was surprised how easy it was to turn around the markers off shore by using the paddle, I can't do the pivot thing!!! Wingdage was not an issue but to be fair the wind was fairly light until I came in then it really picked up and then it was still easy to correct.

All in all a great first time and I will try again tomorrow and see if I discover something else.

45 minutes is all it takes to cross Westernport bay.. I've done it many times.. Your new board would be perfect..

Here's some pics of one of my crossings..

Hi Robon

i have a a few paddles now in a variety od conditions, today is a good example. I started with a on shore wind of maybe 10-12in so I had a fair bit of cross chop and boat wash and the board just floate over it with out a worry in the world, it comes with a 9.5 inch fin so I am not sure if that wakes some difference, the last model came with a 9 inch??
I paddled about 2 km as the wind shifted slightly and was hitting me around 45 degree at my back and was keeping up good speed and cutting through the water well, maybe the turned down nose assists with that. On the return trip I had a pretty good head wind to push through and the Glide did everything I wished it would, it pushed through chop and came up very fast if it pearled under the waves and I made really good time getting back although I was paddling harder but it was so stable so I could put a bit of crunt behind my strokes. As far as windage goes I don't know how it would compare and the waves do push the bow across but adjusting with a few quick paddles near the nose corrects the direction with ease. From what I remember when I discussed it with the Naish rep the nose is less bulky at the tip and distributed across the entire nose area with an increase in overall width, as I said from memory?
My afternoon saw the wind drop off after I sat on the beach for a rest and read a mag so I went out again for a bit of glass and it was a pleasure to paddle and picks up speed so easily, I am loving this board so I will be pushing it pretty hard to get paddle fit so I can increase the distance I can go without doing my lower back a disservice.
