Hi, I am looking at buying a couple of Naishs for me and the girl, probably a 10'6 Nalu and a 9'5 Mana for her.
I understand you are saving about a Kilo going for the GT, but is there any difference in the durability of the two? In older windsurfing boards the top end construction was usually more fragile, is there any chance this could be the case?
Also does the wood laminate in the GT (2014 and earlier) get any discolouration or taking up water over time... starboard wood edition windsurfers used to do this e.g.:
Any info on this would be great thanks
I've noticed that with the new Naish boards the deck pads not only look slightly different they are a much smoother texture on the GS board and a much better waffle texture on the GT boards.. The quality and finish is also noticeable along with better fins.. I would also say the GT construction is not more fragile.. It's lighter.. stiffer.. and stronger.. and you should not get any discolouration.. (I never did) .. I have noticed some fading that's only noticeable when you peal a sticker off thats been there for a while.. If you get a crack or ding you probably will discolouration because the wood sucks water.. The new boards have gone away from a full timber look and it's probably for this reason.. Great choice of boards that you chose.. ![]()
I have had 3 Naish SUPS and still have 10 6 Nalu GT 2014 and as many say these r keepers, I love the performance of these boards.
I found that the yellow deck pads fade fast and some friends boards have lost the diamonds off the foot area.
Two of my boards have had minor nose damage from the provided bag however easily fixed and I put rail protector on the noses to prevent further issues.
Hi DJ. Having got the 2015 GS mana with the smoother deckgrip I was a little worried re grip factor compaired to the diamond texture of the GT but after my 1st session found it to be excellent. No more skin off the knees during summer.
