Good to see a brand further developing the reverse bow concept. It has a lot to recommend it in terms of reducing pitching upwind. But I guess that the trade-off is the high freeboard we see here between paddler and the nose. I'm less sure how this is going to go downwind, but I guess if there's enough volume up front to counteract the submarining then maybe it will be OK. Nice looking graphics. It's interesting that the brands still aren't converging on an agreed design solution, but instead almost seem at times to be doing everything they can to be different from each other. But maybe that allows us customers to have more choice about our design trade-offs.
Looks awesome.. Love the shape..![]()
I'm thinking that's a pure flat water race board.. and the Maliko shape Jav will be the DW board..
I've heard there's been a big change in construction..
I've also heard there's now a new 28" wide 14' Maliko Jav..
Anyone know for sure?
Also interesting to note that Caspar uses such a large blade: presumably that's a 100+ QB. Maybe just for training, or maybe the new Jav is so slippery that you can do up a size in blade ;)
I'm thinking its at least 24" wide, look at Caspers feet as a reference..the perspective and the large volume nose combine to add to the illusion of narrowness. Though even if it's 24", it would be too narrow for me.
Prototype only is my guess as the nose looks a little different on the productions. All will be revealed soon enough.

101 V drive

Yeah I've got that very same paddle. And the 91. I have no idea why he wouldn't use the tapered oval shaft (I love it), but maybe if he likes a shorter shaft, he wants something stiffer, since the shorter you go with the tapered shaft the softer it gets. Or maybe he wants a bigger handle. I find I'm faster with the 91 mainly because you have to be very disciplined with getting your paddle out if you are using a big blade, and I'm not. But I do like the 101 for training....and I'm not Caspar.
Looks like they moved away from the "brushed carbon" look. A real paint job for a change.
My wife keeps telling me my brushed carbon board needs to be painted. That the finish makes it look "home made". Naish seems to have come to the same conclusion as my wife ??

Yes, but a real paint job is noticeably heavier... I'd rather have 500g of stratification rather than 500g of paint on a board...
I wonder how slippery it will be with the astro deck only in the stance area ? I alway walk down the back to do tight turns on my Javelin .
i like the recessed deck .
is it better? we will just have to wait and see.

Well I'd rather have the paint, even if it is heavier. I don't want to spend a small fortune on something that looks like I just found it in a dumpster. Weight has some advantages too. I don't think that the brushed look is so bad in a small surf SUP, but on a big board it is grim IMO. Some of the matt finishes look awful and cheap too (step forward, Fanatic).

Good point. Maybe it is intended as flat water only? IMO all ocean boards should have a tail
pad with kick bar like on a surf board. It makes surfing and buoy turns soooo much easier on a big board. I added one on my Bark Vapor and it made a huge difference. But it really p@@sed me off that I had to.

Faster the board...the bigger the blade
not looking all that wide either, guessing that's all the big three with 21" boards.
I hope there will be some wider version too. A jump from eg. 21 or 24" wide (Jav) to 29" wide (narrowest Glide) is too big a gap in the range IMO. But maybe if there's a wider Jav Maliko then they will expect that to fill the gap for even flat water racers?
Seems they are already spotted in Europe. Saw a FB topic from a Naish rider overhere.
edit: I informed, just in prototype phase, nothing definate.
