No I always wear a leash....Marlon doesn't but only if there's no one else out....Not that he ever falls :)

At the speeds reached by the foil, the drag of the leash becomes significant and can be annoying by the jerks on the leg as it bounces off/in the water. It deters from the flying experience.
On a SUP, you are forward enough and do not move around much on takeoff so that there are many solutions that work (waist leash, leash tucked in shorts or under the cuff, ...). On a surf, not so much.
