Ok thinking ( only mind you ) of selling my beloved 2017 maliko as I'm a bit fed up with the softness of it and getting either the 2017 12'6 falcon or an all star in the same length as there's good offers on at the moment
Sorry I should have said construction as I seem to keep making marks every time I'm straping down on the car but I'm using pipe lagging now
I agree about the softness issue, they are terrible.
Problem is value of damaged board will be low so your going to take a big $ hit.
Agree will take a big hit on the $$$$ but the $$$$ I could save might compensate the loss a bit more
And should I just grin and bear it or would I regret it by buying either the falcon or the allstar

Have you thought of the GTW glide ...they are similar to the GT ..tuff as nails ...I have a GTW 11.6 glide ...paddles real nice ..they make other sizes ...I have a 14 'javelin which also has the softness issues ,but its light .and flies along ..I have heaps of rail tape on it ..but I will never sell it due to the great performance .
get big pads ,don't let anyone use it ,and treat it like a baby ..
Or look at a glide .i give mine a fringing hiding ...it's like a rock ...and still only weighs 11kg s the 12.5 was 13.5 kgs .but they had sold out
this little baby surfs great .little wave s..

mr orange. do you use your maliko for dwing. if you do, you wont find the all star as good for dwing. the falcon are a bit tricky too- nose stability is less then they used to be. of course the widths of the board matter.
cheers

Grin and bear it thats what I'm doing, just going to ride it til it dies.
They are a great shape just poor construction.
Interesting thread. I started eyeing of the Maliko 28" recently and this is the first time I've seen anyone mentioning a soft construction issue. Makes you baulk a bit.
I found my 2016 Maliko (26 wide) pretty fragile and flexy at my weight but super light.. I had no damage at all when I sold it because I was super careful with it..
My 2017 Maliko (28 wide) was slightly heavier but noticably stiffer and stronger.. When I sold it it was also in great condition other than a few stress marks on the bottom..
I have ordered the new 2018 Maliko and have been told that they are a step up again in durability and stiffness.. I'm guessing it will be slightly heavier but if that makes a stiffer and more durable board I'm happy with that..
I've heard the bottoms will be stronger and the new shape of the bottom up near the nose has more belly or roundness and I'm thinking this new shape will reduce pearling so it will be interesting to see if it's the first Naish with a boof nose.
It looks great from the few pictures that I've see from the recent Hood river event.. Winning both DW races says something for its new shape.
I have a 2016 Maliko I keep it in a bag and out of the sun. Its got a few stap marks on the bottom from down wind shuttles (other paddlers over tightening...)but I can live with that.
I love this board, but would recommend that if your rough with your equipment chose another...

Yes do a little bit of dwing, but it's mainly flat water and light chop but have no space for a 14' board so thinking of a 2015 javelin le ( flatwater and might cope with chop ) before I can buy a new board as I've got a buyer for my maliko lined up
