hi all
I'm looking to downsize a bit from 10.2 JP fusion to either 9.5 Naish Mana, 9.6 Quest or 9.4 Fanatic Allwave
im around 85kg just on 6ft been catching waves on the fusion thinking the slightly smaller board will be better as i progress also have a Nalu which is a great allrounder.
just wondering what are the pros & cons fanatic at 33 is wider then the Quest and Mana does anyone find the fanatic more stable in the choppy swell or are these 3 boards much the same ? be interesting to hear people thoughts on which has better rocker and catches waves better, more manoeuvrability etc
cheers Scott
They are very different boards.. My vote goes to the 9'5"x 32 Mana.. ![]()
At your weight it should be perfect and there's no need to go any wider.
Do you have local shops that will let you demo?

thanks for your reply DJ
yes theres a few shops that will let you demo locally only problem is most demos are on flat water here
the main reason for my query to understand any feedback on these boards
i have demo the mana before thought it was great was looking at the GTW but they didnt have them in stock so i ended up with the JP fusion.
Maybe look at Starboard widepoint too....similar stats but less volume in the 9 5.
you are not greatly heavy so could go a shorter Board but keep the width for stability.
havent tried the others but have owned a 9'5 mana and they are very good
thanks for the feedback markmc :)
Just forgot...my friend had one and he was 95kg plus.......he sold it because he felt it felt like a big board ......but it surfed well.

thanks slab,
I'll have to demo one
hey scotchman ..the mana s are nice and easy to ride ,also they paddle well ..
if you wanted a larger rocker board the 9,6 quest is good too ,its a cross between the 9,5 mana and 9,6 x32 hokua .
a little more wave orientated .
but there's not many people that don't like the 9,5 mana.has good speed .
i have the 8,5 mana @ 132 litres .

Tardy,
thanks mate so is the quest a better wave board do u think quicker paddling to catch a wave then mana ?
would think mana with less volume may equal this out ? suppose i'll just need to get on both to compare
cheers mate
I haven't ridden the 9.6 quest ,only can go by people who told me its good ,did own a 9.5 mana for a while .
did move to the 8,10 then 8,5 .the mana shape full nose makes wave riding easy ,and gives the stability .
the no nose shape will be better for steeper waves ...I also had the 9,6 ,9.1 8,8 x32 hokua s ...lot s of rocker ..slower board but still rips.
the mana is easier to ride with nice speed.
if you have slower smaller waves ,the 9,5 mana ,
and as you said less volume ,![]()
