Hi Guys,
I'm looking to get into SUP - mostly Wilsons Prom / Tidal River / Port Phillip Bay use.
3 of us will generally use it...
3 heights / weights
170 / 70
170 / 85
188 / 85
Can anyone recommend a couple of good boards starting out?
Additionally, was hoping to put my 2 year old on it as we go along... life jacketed up of course. No stress if not.
Hoping to purchase in the next day or two before we head down to the prom for a week.
Fire away!
Cheers.
Surfing or flat water.. ![]()
There's one board that comes to mind that would be perfect.. The 9'8"x34" Naish Odysseus. (also 11'2"x32" size)
The 11'x33" Mana (soft top) would also be a good choice.
Probably more flat water (the bay)
Might do a little bit of surfing but only small waves.
Still suggest the same?
Thanks!
Yes.. the same.. For flat water only there are other options.. Wanting to paddle with a small child on board changes your options.. You can't go wrong with a board like the Odysseus.. Try and demo one.. I think the Zu and Kite Republic have them.. The 10'10" Nalu would also work for you.. These are all Naish brand boards and other brands should have similar size boards.
Thanks David - if we weren't too stressed about having a small child on board - what would you suggest?
Kite Republic have the Odysseus in stock.
What are the Sunny King boards like?
Without the child I'd be suggesting a board like the 9'5'' or 10' Mana..
The 9'5'' is an awesome board that's not that big.. easy to carry.. but still very stable..
Nothing wrong with Sunny King.. Some of their shapes are a little old school IMO..
I don't think they have the great handles like the new Naish boards and a good handle is a big deal at places like the Prom..
