What type of leash does one use for a 14' noserider ?
How does one step and turn around and etc without getting tangled ?
Any suggestion appreciated
Back in the day leashes weren't a problem but one would be frowned
upon now if one went out "leashless" these days.
Is this a custom?? I've never seen a 14' noserider (other than really old longboards maybe?) and I'm curious about it ![]()
Get a waist leash
Thanks .. but it would still be long and tanglelley .. would a coiled spring type, from the waist, be the way to go .. and would the deck plug need to be right on the tail ..?
I think you'd be surprised how non tangley it is in practice. The waist leash keeps the line free from your feet and the drag of the slack in the water reels in any excess as you walk back on the board. Its not going to work for spinning in place like Ryan Burch is in that clip, but nothing really will in that case.
What a gorgeous video...absolute style! ![]()
Added to which, if you wear a pedometer during a surf I reckon you'd get a decent step-count up!
Hi Dr SUP
I surf my 14' Search all the time with the same leash as all my boards
9' Da Kine
the rail saver, leash string and leash plug distance from the back of the board probably add up to at least another foot, so 10' of leash.
on my back foot so my front foot gets near the nose without issue.... not tip riding like the most awesome Ryan Burch, but having fun up front.
I would bet a 10' leash would do the trick if you are not tip riding, but simply having fun on a long board.
I have been walking around on longboards , using an ankle leash for close to 50 years without issue... you learn to dance around it.
It is easy to do spinners etc with an ankle leash, but that would be near impossible with a waist leash.
Pic might not look like much... but it's pretty far up front for a 14 ft board ![]()

Dear DoctorSUP, I have a 12' 1/2 coil that might be stretched to 14' after a few Heavy wipeouts that you can have, should be ok for a few cheater 5s at least![]()

I will consider your kind offer .. but does it come with a life time warrantee ?
Hi Doc, we were on 9'5 n 9'11 sup boards, riding big outerbreak winter swell with white water height, a paddle extended above head.
A prone boarder with heavy glassed gun put us onto the longer leggies , saying that he found there was less board drag and leg reef , allowing quick recovery n getting outback less tiring.
Worked great for us. Big difference over the 10's .
When surfing or distance paddling we 1/2 tucked the excess lenght down back of our boardys, never got dacked. But, Would-be trying a belt or waist next time.

Who would you go custom with ?.. Sunova and 2 peice it ?
The plan would be to pick up a Sunova two piece while on holidays in Tyland .. spelling ??
.. and bring it home as baggage .. which is what its designed to do.
I finally ordered a custom from Creatures.
13' waister .. half curly .. half straight.
An interesting journey .. thanks to you all for the advise.
