Given a choice between the 11ft Laird surfer and the 11ft Tom Carroll long grain(not much in the way of reviews yet) which would you choose? They seem to be aimed at a similar market section but are quite different in plan shape ,bottom shape etc.If you like old school longboarding the leaning is probably towards the Laird, but as for innovation maybe the Long grain.Perhaps sit back and wait for the reviews of the Long grain to come.

The pearson arrow laird is one of the early SUP designs - oldie but a goodie. It is really good at stepping back and turning, gioing down mushy waves, has good glide for paddling out, good for doing the helicopter, etc. Watch Laird's sup compilayion tricks on utube. Carroll's board is going to have the latest materials, design, and also has a super thin tail and nose. The nose looks a little more pulled in than the Larid 11.0 model.

Since Tom is shorter than Laird, he *may* have focused more on tuning the shorter versions of his new boards. Laird just recently came out with Laird Pearson arrow models less than 10" -- and in the video clip I saw (posted I think in the Laird EPS thread) -- Laird seemed to spend less time talking about those shorter boards.

Hmmmm.... it may boil down to.. what style do you like more -- longboard sup-ping or shortboard sup-ing. And / or are you built more like Tom or Laird ?
