You, ah, didn't try it on the Goldie today. Unless your talking about its flat water ability or used it as a kite board!

I used it on the day you mentioned..also Mon & this morning (tue).

My thought stills stand..what a fantastic board. Best suited to a glassy day with at least a good 2ft to perform. I didn't really notice the Speed as being overly fast but it can be chucked around easily. Can perform some super quick snap turns..and can project of the lip with confidence…also if you get into the whitewash and it just hangs on the curl floater wise with a bit of forward weight shift comes down with ease…a bit of weight moved back holds the nose up well..a great board to learn some fun moves.
Holds a long bottom turn, and here the speed kicks in if you need to straighten up and point down the line. Steep drops are OK as the rocker is sufficient yet once the power of the wave kicks in and if the drop scares anyone a bit of a turn down the line and the rails catch and it's zoom zoom zoom. Rail to rail is a breeze. Burleigh is usually a right yet I even managed to catch a couple of sneaky lefts (I am natural) so with my back to the wave the Speed moves up the wave face and I could easily plant my paddle and pivot around it to head back right…so much fun and the Speed performed superbly.
The nose shape caught an edge a couple of times due to the shape..not a big deal but someone coming from a non surfing background may find this an issue.

I have demo'ed the 8.10 @ 130lt…I was surprised by how it felt as without knowing the litres I would have guessed it under 110 litres. (not that stable for 130 litres) I found the Soul 8.4 @ 110 to be a lot more stable.

Paddling in chop and surfing crappy waves would be where the Speed fails..it is a finely tuned board for the right conditions.

Build quality is equal to anything else on the mkt…the finish is premium. I think they are things of beauty.

I would not want it in a 2 board quiver and I will buy the Soul before I would buy a Speed. I just think the Soul has a wider range of conditions it can be used in.
