hi all
im throwing some ideas around over size and stability.
Im 78kgs, int supper of a year. Balance not fantastic.
Ride a 10x30 @135 lts stylemaster .
local wave is fat and usually small 2-5'.
Im after stability and ease of paddle in tricky conditions .
the stylemaster is a lovely long board feel, but for me quite tippy side to side, in windy chop conditions.
Meaning I miss a lot of waves trying to get in position, ending with a soaking.
Looking at the hypernut 8'6" for Glide and stability.
Question would it be to big?
Dose the 7'8 at 30 wide feel more stable than stylemaster at 30"w.
Thanks in advance
btw , love stylemaster on its day.
I think if you are finding your Stylemaster a challenge then stay far away from both of those Hypernuts. They will be way out of your skill level.

Einstein said 8 foot board is easier to prep for take off than 10 foot !!! Your already 115 lts ,,, the world is your oyster baby !!!!

Sorry 4 that 135 lts !!!! It dont matter !!!
Yeah I was out again today and as soon as wind and chop pick up I struggled on the fanatic.
Thinking the 8'6 would be better with extra Glide over 7'8.
Or practice a bit more haha!

I own a 7'8" Hypernut and a 10' Stylemaster. I really like both boards. However, I wouldn't move to the Hypernut if you are having stability problems on the Stylemaster in chop. The 7'8" offers a lot of stability for its level of performance, but at that length you will have to contend with balancing the board nose to tail as well as well as side to side. I also think an oversized Hypernut might be kind of a waste. I weigh 90kgs and I think the 7'8" is as big as I can go without sacrificing a lot of performance. I realize this probably is not what you want to hear, but...I would consider getting the equivalent of what, in the prone surfing world, we call a fun board. Something in the 8'6" to 9' range with the wide point forward and plenty of width. You don't need this years model, a five year old Starboard Hero would work great. It isn't the sexiest alternative, but it might be pretty fun in blown out soft waves.

Thanks for info, great to here from some one with experience with both boards.
How do you find the stylemaster in wind chop? Am I just rubbish ??
I did demo a Quatro Glide 8'8 x 33 @145
I found it a bit num in the turns, I'm ex wind/kite surfer where you can carve easy.
I was was looking at performance and stability in crap chop blown wind.
Any ideas? Can get good deals on new starboards at min.
Appreciate all advice.
cheers.
Try a 1 inch longer centrefin on your Stylemaster.
Dosnt sound like much, but you will find it increases the stability of the board
See if you can borrow one off a friend to try before you buy one.
