Think I've narrowed the search down to the Fanatic Fly 11'6" x 33" x 236 litres, and the JP Allround 12' x 32.5" x 217 litre. Both are currently available second hand. Mostly flatwater paddling, but some ocean paddling and sailing as well. 105 kg, 50+ guy. No actual surfing, don't like the crowds and the injury risks, been there. Tend to get out the back and stay there. Experienced paddler and board sailor. Really interested in overall performance, build quality and resale advice. Thanks.
Hey jlamble welcome to the breeze, I can't give you any feedback on the JP Allround as I've never used one but can say that the 11'6 Fly is a great board for your intended purpose, and as far as build quality goes I don't think you can go wrong. We've had 16 of these boards for 2 seasons of hire and although some have had repairs this has only been due to customers dropping them on concrete, roads or rocks, as far as general wear and tear goes they are rock solid. I've had one at my place for the past two seasons that has been used by my wife, family and friends and it still looks brand new. It will never paddle like a race board but I've done some pretty lengthy open ocean paddles on it and have found it super stable and also tracks really well. Resale on these is pretty good too. Good luck in your search.
Both great boards so for me or might come down to the construction of either model as there are a truck load of options. One might be better value.
Fanatic would be more stable and forgiving but the jp is a great paddling board. Awesome glide.
Sam.
