I'm new to paddling and looking at buying my 1st board. After talking to a store I have been recommended Fanatic Fly 10' or Naish Nalu 11'. They seemed to be more pushing the Fanatic and I can get the wood vs for only a tad more than the Nalu. I'm looking at mainly flat water and weigh about 56kg. As a beginner I am finding myself much slower than the more experienced paddlers I have had a go with. Keen on hearing a few thoughts....
Hi Rocal
the longer board will be faster .eg 10.6. Nalu vs 10 '
the 11.4 Nalu paddles faster than the 11' Nalu ..if your looking for speed .It has less rocker ..
and is the same weight and only 5 litre more .@180 ...
GT 11.4 kg GS 12.4.
if I was flat water paddling go the longer board .10 foot is leaning more toward waves .![]()
ive got 2 nalu's in the family ,sold the 11.6 Nalu ..fast board too ..but big
my daughter @ 12 years old has the 11.4 ..she fly's on it .
i have the 11' Nalu ..and 11' glide ..the glide is unreal in flat water as well it simply ... glides ...213 litre ..
I would get the Nalu .10.6 at your weight ...I have a friend who is 74 kg ..has a 10.6 Nalu .perfect board for him .![]()
my next board is a 14' javelin .i want to go fast too. ...still saving ...![]()

10'6" Nalu.. ![]()
I agree. It's hard to go wrong with that board. And if you eventually decide that you want something more specialised, you will be able to sell it in a gnat's blink because it appeals to such a wide range of paddlers - for good reason.
X4 on the 10'6". I have the 11'4 and don't find it a great paddler on the flat due to rocker. The 10'6 is better all rounder and better suited to your weight.
