Well here we go again another custom .After getting the Kanga 8,9 I wasn't ready for that board so sold it to a mate .and have struggle as I get old on my 8'7 SPX . it has way less area than my 8'8 flow so tippy little sheet but surfs great , basically I got the wrong size ![]()
My poor old 8'8 flow is in a mess after ending up on rocks at the Maldives but will survive ,it doesn't surf like these SPX boards though
.After talking with Bert ,Dylan and shaw ,we agreed a thinner tail rail would give me more bite ,so dropping the litres from 137 to 133 which is the same as my 8'7 ,would give me this, it looks really good ,of course it is wider than the 8'7 @31
vs 8'8 31 5/16 ,
It has gone through the shaping part already entering the laminate soon then paint ,I m hoping I'm done for a while just need to learn I need slightly bigger boards these days ,never did like anything under 8'8 anyway .getting too old ![]()

cheers Steve ,doing the silver writing in gloss where the bottom will be the unfinished look as Sunova call it .
This will probably be my last custom for a while ,so thought I'd make it a good one .
I recon I've got the board I've been looking for now
stay tuned for the final pictures care of Shaw ,its so cool been able to watch your own board being built and getting the emails with the pictures ,Sunova factory you rock .
It's going to look fantastic, can't wait to see the finished product. Are you still keeping the old 8'7 board?

Awesome looker Mate...Finally back in the water after many months out with injuries. Absolutely blown away by the SPX its such a beast. Its by far my fave ever board and I rarely take the old Flow V2 out anymore. Anyone looking for a performance board that is usable in all conditions should definitely look at these boards.
Love it mate.
. I'm sure it'll rip.
I might just have to pinch the colour/design on that one haha ![]()
I'm still undecided between a Ghost and a SP25...

Great your back in the water Dave

Of course colours are to share ,black and blue all over ![]()
Not ridden the Ghost ,has a wider nose so maybe easier to ride ,very similar shapes when put together .
SPX is a pro board so if your into doing Rad ,its for you .it amazes me how good it is .it has improved my backhand surfing
it just stays loose and free to do what ever you want at anytime .it comes out of the turns super fast .its madd .
Just remember it's a no nose board so stick in your comfort zone .as they get tippy in chop .but surfs so good .
It was the SP25 then it had the SP24 also .shapes have combined into SPX now .But you can still order the SP25 and 24 .
The 24 is for bigger waves .SPX will cover it .Sean is a champ .surf way crazier than I ever could ,he has developed a awesome
weapon SPX you gotta get one ![]()

Hi Tardy, thats one beautiful board, will be waiting to see how it goes in the surf.
How wide is the tail?
Cheers.
Steve.
cheers Steve ,the tail is 17 so 1 inch narrower than my 8'8 flow ,here's the final plan after taking 4 litres out of the original SPX 8'8 .
I Just wanted a thinner board .133 litres is heaps for me .as you can see a single concave and very forgiving rails quite a fast rocker and large nose kick .I hope to have it in 4-5 weeks .they made heaps of proto types and tested many until they come up with this shape .It just feels fantastic on a wave .as you know I have the 8'7 .which is just a tad to small for me .

Ghost
When I compared the 8'8's head to head, in my book, it was no contest. The Ghost did everything noticeably easier, with better performance IMO.

Stunning board Dude!!!
Can't wait for the vids
That's a beautiful looking board mate; I'd be afraid to ding it. Have you had it on any decent waves yet? Reckon she'd rip ![]()
I've been tossing up between one of these and a ghost for a while, but the surf has been crap and whatever there has been the Revo has been enough (still my favourite board BTW)
BUT the surf will be back one day, so I've put my name on an 8'10" Ghost Up

cheers ...mate ...not got the 8'8 yet
,but my 8'7 SPX is a little terra ,whips around like a baboon with a stick stuck up its arse ,
I had it in small waves today it was awesome ,good float and threw it around like a rag doll .
check Andrew Cassidy's new vid on the Ghost up ,it looks like its a goer ,wider nose than the SPX .tail is narrow like the SPX .
I think your on the money Brenno ,The shapes Ghost vs SPX are not that different ,you will probably like the 8,10 as it is narrower
30,5 so it will be great in some size waves ,the 8'7 SPX does skip a bit in 6-7 foot waves ,and they do say on their web page it does max out in big waves .
in time I would like a 8,10 Ghost up .Its new .![]()
