Buy S/H Big Name or New House Brand

Hi Guys,

Just looking at surf SUP's and wondering what's better, buying a secondhand big name brand like Starboard, Fanatic, Naish etc or going for one of my local house-branded boards like from Alley Designs or One Ocean on the Gold Coast.

It's roughly the same money either way, what's your thoughts?

I will speak for ONE as i own it and just give a bit more inside in to the difference in quality between us and what else is out there just on a general side.

For us we sandwich mold 99% off our boards using a full PVC wrap and either do a glass or full carbon option to go with the PVC wrap, In Australia we mostly sell direct and our pricing matches this for the quality we as the same construction in some of the big brands is crazy compared to what we offer.
Our whole production range is now either this construction or now in the race side we also offer hollow boards.

We make nothing in China on the boards side and work only with what we feel is the very best factory in Kinetic who also makes some very good boards for some other brands like ONE but only ONE and one other brand in this factory do most of there boards the way we do with spending the money to make molds, I would 100% not be doing ONE if i had to make boards in china i know some do and i am happy for them but for us the quality comes first and this is something that i feel i can not get from places like China.

We do our custom line of boards as well which we feel are very fairly priced for what you get, yes it is not the quickest process but the end product is something the we try and tailor to you as much as possible and still very good!

We might never be the cheapest but we do feel with give the best product for the money you will spend plus hopefully good after sales service. When you deal with ONE in Australia you will 99% or even 100% of the time deal with Angie or myself and we wont hide behind some company we 100% stand behind the boards we make. For us its about whats on the inside as even the cheapest factorys can do a pretty paint job but not every one can make a board to the standards you expect!

Here is a little bit of what we are about and where we came from which i feel is important if you are trusting someone to make a board that is something you want to ride hard for a long time, Hope this helps a little.
