Going to Tahiti this Dec (not specifically to surf), have the flight from US and then an inter island flight to get to an atoll. I'm assuming it's hopeless to try to get an 8' surf SUP on a small plane, but wondering if anyone has tried in Tahiti- I've flown w SUP a bunch but only on big planes. Assumed I'd need to prone surf but would be amazing if I could bring a SUP, wave option where I'm going sounds SUPable if not pumping, friend surfed there a bunch.
I've been to Tahiti a few times when I was surfing. Mooreea and huahine. Ferry to Mooreea, but we were able to get the wife's 8 footer on plane to huahine, but much narrower than sup. You'll have to check with airline but it's possible I would think. I'd try to bring your shortest board, we were always kayaking to get to the surf spots on outer reef so a sup would be really nice. It's also very worthwhile to combine paddling and snorkeling in the lagoons and reef passes. Good memories of kayaking out to surf then snorkeling all the way back towing the gear with leash.

What board would you take ?
If it was a optimal rental there ,
what lenght ,Vol, width would work for you ?
That sounds like a blast. We are at Tikehau I think, they have SUPs but assuming they are big cruisers. trying to figure out if I need to start working on my prone surfing this fall, don't enjoy it that much at my local closeout beach break long paddle out wave:)
