Thinking about adding a new board for the quiver... looking for input. Choices are: 8'6 Sunova STEEZE/8'3 Sunova Placid/ 8'7 Sunova Placid. I am an experience SUPer and weigh 97 kilos.
If anyone has ridden any of these boards I will appreciate your comments! Thanks..
The Steeze and Placid are very different styles of board. What style of riding are you looking for in your new board.
I'm an old guy (68) and have been surfing for over 50 years and SUP surfing the last 10. If you hit "Timsups" and go to my info page there some recent pics of me surfing. More old style, down the line surfing, with carving turns. My go to board is an 8'10 STEEZE. I also ride my 10' Style a lot in our small Florida surf. It noserides great! The board I'm interested in adding to the quiver would be something that goes a bit shorter, that I would surf from the tail and that would blend with the surfing style and bad habits I've acquired over the last half century. Something a little quicker and snappier that will inject some new stoke and energy into my SUP surfing. (Just not too hard to paddle since I am getting OLD!) Again, I would love to hear from anyone familiar with the boards I'm considering. Thanks for the input!!
checked out ya pictures ..you got it wired ...i think you need a board you can shred on ...rather than a longboard style to mix your quiver up .
I think the placid will be a good choice ..if you've got a volume in mind that you like i would stick around that ..my comfy zone is 120-125 .
i'm around your weight ,and ride the 8,7 .,i have ridden shorter boards, but you do loose a bit of paddle power ..and it will be harder to catch waves if they are smaller and weaker ...8,7 seems to be short enough for me ..and my old back .

Tim, you are absolutely one of the best SUP surfers I know.... solid as a rock and flat out rip!
Not only have I seen it first hand, but I hear the boys talking how you are killing it on your Steeze and in some pretty beefy waves too!
A true gentleman and SUP waterman!
Please call me when you have a bit of time to chat.
I have some definite ideas on some boards you may like.
More choices these days require a bit of in depth discussion.
I haven't even sorted them all out yet, but I am getting some good waves on them this past week... and I am super stoked!!
Thank you Tardy and Creek! Rick(Creek), IM me your number and I'll give you a call. Thanks again!! Tim
