Hey guys just wondering what use would recommend for a all rounder sup for your 1st board. Was looking at australian waterman or nsp??
Mate what an open ended question. Your size weight intended use fitness and level of perseverance all play huge roles. Go to a sup shop ask, demo demo demo boards. You and only you will feel right on the right board for you. Get on as many as you can that are intended for what you want.
I have a starboard avanti it is unreal, stable good flat water and a nice small wave board, upto 3tft. Being a life long surfer i am now having a custom wave board made.
DEMO BOARDS MATE
Yeah thanks 100kg plus , majority flatwater bit of surf..
If you're 100 kgs then also concider the other classic NSP.. The 11'6" .. ![]()
I had an 11' NSP - I'm 103kg no problems with it as a first board except it was hopeless in the surf. Caught waves Ok but just wanted to go straight, couldn't turn it for love or money. We also had a 10'2 NSP, way better in the surf but not so good in the flat water - ok though, too heavy for my wife. Have bought Naish Manas for both us, great boards. We found that surfing was a bigger priority than flat water, although the Manas do both.
My vote goes for the classic 11' NSP.. ![]()
+1
Brilliant first board! Really good glide and stable as..confidence builder..if you are falling off this baby after 15mins, even in midcalf chop you better see the doc![]()
Thanks to Jason & Sonya @ WOK for their advice and to all you guys and girls out there for your "hot tips" especially you DJ for what you continue to do for SUP![]()

remember as with anything your first experience can make or break Ya!![]()
The NSP 10' Cocomat is another choice. it is only 29 wide but is very stable and worth a demo. It also surfs real well. The cocomat has a feel similar to normal surf board.
Hi guys, sorry I hope I don't sound like a salesman when I say this but here goes.... this is what we design our 11' Ben Buckler Board SUP's for > "100kg plus , majority flatwater bit of surf". Feedback on these boards has been awesome and you can demo them at OZ SUP in Rose Bay, Sydney.
hi mate have a look at the atlantis halo around 10 ft (or 10 6 or 11 if you want more volume), great beginner board and won't break the bank. I started on one and can't recommend if highly enough. cruises well and behaves respectably in the surf... that's my two bob, no affiliation with atlantis/the surfboard warehouse except I've bought a couple of their boards and been happy... they ship aust wide pretty reasonably...
